The pairing of Tim Hortons® annual Smile Cookie™ campaign and The Nutcracker ballet has produced some great results in the past, and this year’s campaign sold more cookies than any other Tim Hortons in all of British Columbia!

The Sunshine Coast bought 11,414 cookies (translates to $11,414). “It’s amazing how supportive our community is,” exclaimed Kathleen Holmes, artistic director of Coasting Along Theatre Society (CATS), producers of The Nutcracker. “We had stores and offices buy for their staff and customers, and we had many people buy cookies to donate to others: Firefighters, RCMP, the food bank, seniors centres, etc. It was a week of giving smiles for sure!”

Coasting Along Theatre Society’s Nutcracker is a sweet production and this fundraising campaign helps raise the funds to keep the production spectacular.

Of course, this is a team effort – not only did the dancers and families sell the cookies, but Tim Hortons staff baked them. Without those bakers putting in long days, CATS wouldn’t have come close to raising that amount, and they are grateful.

Rehearsals for the seventh season of The Nutcracker are going strong. New costumes are being designed and made as they do get a lot of wear and tear each year. And every year costumes and sets are enhanced. It helps keep the production fresh, and with new dancers each year, changes have to be made.

Tickets will go on sale mid-November. The Nutcracker box office will be located at the Sechelt Branch of the Sunshine Coast Credit Union (SCCU). Tickets are reserved seating and can be purchased at the SCCU or over the phone: 604-989-6050. For more information, see www.coastingalongtheatre.org
