On June 1, the Sechelt Public Library welcomed its patrons back for the long-awaited first day of the new Takeout Service. It was an exciting day for library staff and patrons were overwhelmingly pleased at simply being able to hold a physical book in their hand once again.

The Takeout Service is done in two ways: some patrons place items on hold through the library’s website catalogue system and some call and staff will work with them to help create individually tailored item choices for their Takeout Package.

Either way, the items are packaged in a paper bag and quarantined for 72 hours prior to patrons picking them up. Everything is about safety for staff and patrons.

Monday’s returns were overwhelming! One particular book appeared as though the family dog enjoyed it as well – or at least one corner. Each day’s item returns will be quarantined for 72 hours before being checked in, shelved and ready for another reader. Will that be you?

See sechelt.bc.libraries.coop or call 604-885-3260 for details.
