As it happens, Saturday is overflowing with things to do …

One Straw Society is hosting a workshop entitled Planning and Preparing Your Garden Using Perma-culture, Saturday, March 7 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at RC Elementary School. This timely session will explore techniques for planning a garden, including observation and mapping, optimal location, appropriate plants, seed starting and ethical seed distributors, and varieties of garden bed styles for different situations. If this interests you, contact [email protected]. Suggested donation of $10 to $20.

I will use this space to introduce you to a new acronym I will insert where appropriate, NOTAFLOF: No One Turned Away For Lack Of Funds! My editor John will love me for this as I turn eight words into one! Sweet!

If you have that permaculture thing going on, I suggest a pruning workshop at the Sunshine Coast Nursery, Saturday March 7, 11 a.m. to noon, rain or shine. Whether a beginner or in need a refresher, contact the Nursery at 1826 Sunshine Coast Hwy. to register. Only $10 +GST.

Now here is something sweet! Boudoir Rouge presents Rumours Burlesque Saturday, March 7. Step into a night of burlesque and risqué whispers as you commit to the full Boudoir Rouge experience. Come and feast your eyes on the tantalizing, bold and beautiful humans of Boudoir Rouge Burlesque. The delectable array of performers will be sure to please even the most selective palate. Post performance event includes a night of dancing and wildly liberated fun. Roberts Creek Hall, 8 p.m. Tickets are $30, available at The Kube in Gibsons, Basted Baker in Sechelt and at the door, if it’s not sold out, yo!

BBR presents Gimme a Break at the lil’ Legion with Scotty Stylus and DeepBassPervert. A unique night of bass heavy breaks, techno, jungle and drum ‘n bass on Saturday, March 7 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Opening the show is DJ Jason Whyte with sweet visuals by Operation Honeybee. Members $8, guests $15.

I hope that one day everyone will understand that women’s right are human rights. On Sunday March 8, International Women’s Day, the Sunshine Coast Labour Council has organized a potluck lunch at Roberts Creek Hall from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome!

Things to prepare yourself for in the coming week: Seedy Saturday! A springtime tradition from One Straw Society with seeds, workshops and demos at the hall, and a gardening book exchange at the library. Saturday, March 14 marks 25 years of this event!

Also next Saturday at the #219 is a Vancouver band that has been playing rockin’ roots and blues classics since 1978, Mud Bay.
