Some words from friends of the Creek

As we enter the realm of single digit temperatures with a 50 per cent chance of showers, 50 per cent chance of drizzle, 50 per cent chance of rain, it may suck but sure makes us appreciate the sunshine that punctuates the occasional day all the more.

I am gonna plug our Legion here. Though the odds of anything happening soon are slim, please don’t ignore the one thing you can do to help them get through these tough days, so we can one day have our living room back (I mean the one inside, with a pool table and Gail and not the other one). You can join or renew online at robertscreeklegion.ca

This week the Gnomes on Cheryl Ann Park Road will deliver care packages to people in their neighbourhood. Funded by the Vancouver Foundation Neighbourhood Small Grant Project, the Cheryl Ann COVID Project will supply school-aged children with a book, some neighbours with IGA gift cards, chocolate and treats, some with flowers to bring some colour to their home and the school bus driver with coffee and a little something for the end of the day. Nice.

Here are some words from our friends from the Woodworking School: “For the past 15 years it has been our privilege to raise our family and operate our small school in such a beautiful and inspiring place. It is with heavy hearts that we will be closing our school in the Heart of the Creek at the end of our fall term. In the coming months we will begin a new chapter for the school and our lives, which in many respects has been one and the same.

“While we will miss the community of Roberts Creek, we will be maintaining close ties, as our children have purchased our home in the creek. Yvonne and I feel very blessed knowing our grandchildren will be raised in such a caring and supportive community.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Shazach Holdings for their support and understanding during these difficult times; our community and of course our students and our alumni, you touched our hearts and shaped our lives. As we reflect back over our time here, we are reminded that this school existed not only for you, but because of you. Wishing all of you and your loved ones, peace, love, health and happiness. With gratitude, Robert & Yvonne”

In closing this week, I want to thank those that have told me they enjoy my column. It’s not always easy and, like last week, sometimes downright impossible, but it’s a labour of love and I will do my best for you all, cheers!
