The Allstar Jam last Sunday, the first of the Sunday Jams at the PH Clubhouse was spectacular! Huge thanks to Marilyn MacLeod, The Clubhouse folks, the fantastic musicians and the creator of these musical good times, Ron Johnson. 

This Sunday, Sept. 29, the fabulous Jim Foster will lead the jam with guests Joe Stanton, Trevor Sully Antonyk and Tim Rannard. More music from the Pender Harbour Blues Society is coming up: the 11th Annual Halloween Howl and Costume Extravaganza with Gary Comeau and The Voodoo Allstars is Saturday, Oct. 26, 8 p.m. at the Hall. Tickets are on sale now at Java Docks, Strait Music and www.phblues.ca. 

This Sunday, Sept. 29, the Iris Griffith Centre welcomes the public to Art and Science of Orcas. Enjoy the beautiful creations at the art exhibit displaying the talented works of Shelley Stunnell’s students. The compelling lecture Drowned Out: Orca Communication in an Increasingly Noisy World, will be presented by guest speaker Jessica Scott of the BC Cetacean Sightings Network. Tea and cake will be served, 1 p.m. Everyone welcome, by donation. 

Harbourside Friendship Thursday, Oct. 3, starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Hall will welcome Elle Archibald from the Sechelt Library in collaboration with the PH Community School presenting Brain Health. Lunch will be served at noon. Drop in $10. 

Friday, Oct. 4, don’t miss out on a great family fun event, the fifth annual cardboard boat building challenge at the pool, 5 to 8 p.m. Get a team together and come build a pool-worthy structure and have some fun racing. Regular admission applies. SAR will be on hand to help with the event. 

POUND: Channel your inner rock star with this full body cardio jam session inspired by playing the drums. Awesome full body workout to great music sure to energize. Fridays, Oct. 4 to 25, 6 to 7 p.m., four classes for $54.60, preregistration is required. 

Fall Faire is just a week away Oct. 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hall. Food from the Samosa Lady, Flavour Saver food truck and Hall Home Kitchen, kids’ activity centre with crafts and the very competitive cookie decorating, chili cookoff, Hilda the cow milking contest, judged exhibition (entries at EarthFair and Harbour Insurance), vendors treasure village, displays, and live music with Skinny Jimmy, SASS, and Allan Nienhuis. Dress up in your Fall Faire attire and celebrate the return of this favourite Pender Harbour annual event! 

The Pender Harbour Garden Club prepares for Thanksgiving when they meet Monday, Oct. 7, 1 p.m. at the School of Music. Rosemary Bonderud and Karen Wells, local and talented individuals and long-time members of the garden club, will lead a workshop where participants create a Thanksgiving centrepiece to take home to be admired by family and friends. There will be limited spaces, so members reserve your spot at phgardenclub@gmail.com. Membership for 2019 is $15, $5 drop-in. Coffee, tea and goodies will be served after the workshop. Tickets for great raffle prizes will be sold.
