Trivia Night is also this Friday, May 10 hosted by Harbour Publishing at the Legion, a fundraiser for the 74th Pender Harbour May Day extravaganza. Come early for dinner – kitchen closes at 7 p.m. There will be prizes and a 50/50 draw. 

FLAIR on the Coast this Saturday, May 11, will host guest speaker Krystin Clark, Metaphysical Minister, Kaleidoscope Centre for Soulful Shifts. Clark is a dynamic speaker who offers energy, wisdom and humour Men and women in need of a cancer support group are welcome to attend, 10 a.m. to noon at the Rockwood Centre, Sechelt. The Pender Harbour Garden Club is pleased to welcome Nathaniel Mouton, Monday, May 13 at the School of Music, 1 to 3 p.m. Nathan has been helping the Ruby Lake Lagoon Society conducting a biological survey, forage fish spawning and intertidal invertebrates. Nathan has a BA in Science, majoring in Ecology and Environment Biology. He will be talking about native plant diversity, natural gardening methods and managing invasive species. Drop in $5, membership $15. Complimentary coffee, tea and goodies. 

The Women’s Con-nection will host a Straw-berry Tea this Tuesday, May 14 at the School of Music starting at 10 a.m. 

Harbourside Friendship, Thursday, May 16 invites everyone to come and sing out with the Pender Harbour Choir. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. at the Hall and lunch is served at noon. Drop in $10. 

Pender Harbour Community School offers another great cooking adventure, Cooking with Marcus, Thursday May 16, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Pender Harbour Secondary School foods room. Get ready for summer creating simple versatile seasonal dishes from around the world. Register at 604-883-2826. 

The 74th Annual May Day, with the theme of Space Exploration, Saturday, May 18 has non-stop fun and festivities for everyone starting with the Kids Fishing Derby (under 12) at 8 a.m. The parade marches off at 11 a.m. Welcome to our two May Day Queens, Kat Dion and Kylie Halvorson. Visit the Pender Harbour Community Club website for the events schedule. 

The Harbour Gallery located at the cultural centre beside the School of Music and Reading Centre will be open for May Day, May 18, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come see what’s new.  

Sunday, May 19 the 18th Attack of Danger Bay downhill longboard race is on, with defending champion hometown racer Dane Hanna. Watch for details.

Another enjoyable and profitable Bargain Barn Food and Fashion Show was held at the Legion last Sunday, May 5. The Legion staff were exceptional in their support of this community event. The 50/50 winner donated part of her winnings. The Bargain Barn executive thanks the Legion and the community for their contributions, making this amazing event a great success. All proceeds go to the PH Health Centre.
