The Pender Harbour Community School has some great programs this month. Tonight Friday, Jan. 17 is family music night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the School of Music. This is a casual fun night of singing for all ages.

Tonight Friday, Jan. 17 is family music night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the School of Music. This is a casual fun night of singing for all ages. Kids under 12 must bring a singing adult. Don't be shy! There is a $3 drop-in fee or $5 for two.

Drop in sports are back. Mondays is hockey night from 7 to 9 p.m.; Tuesdays soccer from 7:30 to 9:30 and Wednesdays Pickleball from 6:30 to 8:30. There is a $3 drop-in fee with all activities inside the Pender Harbour Secondary School (PHSS) gym.

Soup making class - perfect for this time of year - takes place this Monday, Jan. 20 at the PHSS food room. Make and take home turkey soup and cream of mushroom. Workshop fee is $15 with instructor Joi Phillips.

Canning for Caesars is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the PHSS food room. Bring your favorites garnishes, beans, asparagus, and onions and learn how to can them with instructor Terri Scott. Fee is $25.

The Pender Harbour Legion is having a tribute evening for Walt Wickson, retiring president this Saturday, Jan. 18. Come and enjoy a fun evening and wish our out-going president the best. Tickets that include dinner are $10. Tickets are also on sale for Robbie Burns Night, set for Jan. 25 for $30 available at the Legion and Harbour Insurance.

Attention crib players, come and play every Wednesday starting at 3 p.m. at the Legion. There are only enough attending at this time to play singles, but with more of you joining in, partners could be played again. For more information please call Joe at 604-883-9902.

The Pender Harbour Wildlife Society hosts its first meeting of 2014 at 7:30 p.m. this Tuesday, Jan. 21 at PHSS. The presentation will be the film Salmon Confidential, which provides information and updates on the status and health of the salmon populations on our Coast. Guests and new members are always welcome. Refreshments will be served no charge.

A short meeting of the society will follow the presentation.

This Thursday, Jan. 23 join Harbourside Friendships at the Community Hall at 10:30 a.m. for coffee. Paula Howley will then entertain the group with her award-winning Toastmaster speech. Enjoy hot lunch for $10 at noon. Cathy has more details at 604-883-9760.
