The Pender Harbour branch of the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary will once again host their annual In Lieu of Christmas Cards. This quite simple way of extending season greetings to friends, family and good folks will be printed in the Coast Reporter. Send your donation with the recipients of the good wishes and greetings to Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary, Box 101, Madeira Park, BC, V0N 2H0. Please submit by Dec. 12. For more info please contact Maureen Lee at 604-883-2563.

This Christmas season spending time at home we have so many wonderful opportunities to indulge in fun and games, creating with crafts, cooking up delights, enjoying traditions and establishing new ones. Last year the Polar Express competition for the best decorated home had amazing contestants. The winners were: 1st The McDonalds, 2nd The Ellerts, 3rd The Massullos. Now, this year, the format is somewhat like the Secret Santa – should you have or see an awesome Christmas Light display, send an email with the address to: [email protected]. Game on!

The Seniors Initiative activities and Harbourside Friendship are cancelled for the month of December. “Spreading Kindness” is the theme of the community fundraiser spearheaded by Lyn Charlton. Donations will benefit locals with essentials at Christmas and throughout the year. Make your donation through the local Rotary Club link at https://portal.cubrunner.ca/1875/donate, or by cheque payable to Pender Harbour Rotary, Box 40, Garden Bay, BC, V0N 1S0.

Now more than ever is time to stay at home, and time to reach out safely. Are you a senior who might need a little help with walking your dog, taking your pup to the vet or know a senior who might need a little help with their fur kid?

ElderDog assists seniors with the care and well-being of their canine companions through a volunteer network that helps with dog walking, transportation to and from vet appointments, and temporary dog care during emergencies or hospitalizations. ElderDog assists in rehoming senior dogs that are left without a caregiver.

All assistance provided by ElderDog is volunteer based. For more information please visit ElderDog Canada’s website. For ElderDog on the Sunshine Coast please email [email protected] or call 604-865-1877.
