In the mood for Christmas

Hallmark week for many reasons. The white supremacist reign of terror is over. Saturday the sun shone brighter than ever, the air was pure, pristine and invigorating. We headed out on our last trip to stock up for hibernation.

First, pick up online grocery order. Best, most enjoyable and efficient way to shop. Time for treats; a steamy French vanilla delicious drink and Timbits (second time in my life) drive-thru. Sweet!

Next, the “bear” necessities at the Bricker Cidery. Outside, sitting in the sun sipping Blackberry Crisp, fine dining on a heaping bowl of mussels, a warm and wonderful feeling with smiles and laughter all round enveloped this special place at a special time. Our growlers refilled and sporting our cozy new toques we were more than content and ready for our homebody life.

Serendipity Christmas Faire, a cherished and stellar annual event raising the necessary funds for operating the daycare, will be online this year from Nov. 13 to Dec. 8. As well as favourite vendors’ creations, a special cookbook of local favourite recipes will be available. Visit Serendipity’s Facebook page for more information.

With days ahead at home, the woodstove blazing, snow creeping down the Caren range, I am in the mood for Christmas. Early? Maybe, but good to celebrate treasures of the festive season. I will share one with you: Jacquie Lawson Advent calendar, an easy download. Mine is up and running with the games, puzzles and decorating being thoroughly enjoyed each day, a fun and feel-good time. Dec. 1 the real magic begins!

There are many convenient ways to get your household supplies by ordering online and using delivery services. Amy’s Doggy Spa & Pet Food here in Madeira Park offers both curbside pickup and delivery. Check in with your favourite merchants.
