Harbour Highlights: Pender boat parade rescheduled

The Community Club Christmas Craft Fair last Saturday, Dec. 15 was a heartwarming display of community support.

The Community Club Christmas Craft Fair last Saturday, Dec. 15 was a heartwarming display of community support. It was late in the season and almost didn’t happen, but with volunteers Carol Goodwin, Gloria Nichol and Steve Graham, vendors and the wonderful HUGS ukulele group giving their all, the fair was a reality and a great success. Over $700 was raised for maintaining our beloved Hall. The true spirit of Christmas was very much alive and well. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this special day.

The Boat Parade with the Pipers will set sail this Friday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. from the dock at Millennium Park. (It was postponed due to the weather last Friday.) Enjoy this annual tradition as they merrily make their way throughout the Harbour.

Dec. 24 at 4 p.m., a Candlelight Christmas Eve Celebration will take place at Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church featuring a 14 person choir with musicians and special music by acclaimed soprano Rose-Ellen Nichols. Enjoy this wonderful celebration of carols by candlelight.

PODS Pier Party, a fabulous festive event for all the family at Irvine’s Landing, will light up at 3 p.m. and run until late. There will be a big bonfire, Christmas light display, live music and carolling, hot chocolate, food and treats.

The New Year is just around the corner with many dining and dance celebrations to chose from. The Legion will feature the fantastic musical duo Apasionado, and both The Backeddy and Painted Boat have parties for you to enjoy.

Wishing you a happy, healthy holiday season!
