Come join the Women’s Connection for their Sept. 25 startup and celebrate Alluring Autumn, the fall season between September and December, a time to gather, thank and reflect. Helga Grout will lead us through engaging and fun conversation of our summer highlights and ponder the change of season and how we want to be in autumn. Pender Harbour’s much loved HUGS ukulele is hosting two beginner workshops inviting and encouraging anyone who wants to try ukulele. Beginner Ukulele Tuesdays, Sept. 25 and Oct. 2, 2:30-3:30 p.m., $5 donation for music, at the School of Music. Harbourside Friendships, Thursday, Sept. 27 starting at 10:30 a.m. Be part of a special morning of activity and interaction with the students from grades 5 and 6. Lunch will be served at noon. Drop in $10.


Very busy day in the Harbour Saturday, Sept. 29 so mark your calendars and take in two great events. The Legion’s big ham, turkey meat draw and pie auction starts at 3 p.m. This is a popular event so come early to get a seat and take your chances at the early bird draw. Non-members always welcome.
The Rotary Club of Pender Harbour presents Oktoberfest, the same day, Saturday Sept. 29, 6 p.m. at the Community Hall. Enjoy beer and cider from all the five coast breweries, Bavarian sausage, sauerkraut, pretzels, music, auction and take home a souvenir glass all for $35. Tickets available at Harbour Insurance, Oak Tree Market, Madeira Park Veterinary Clinic and Royal LePage Madeira Park.


The Pender Harbour Garden Club is pleased to present guest speaker Ayuko Inoue at their Oct. 1 meeting 1 to 3 p.m. at the School of Music. Ayuko studied in London and set up her own company Gardens by Design upon her return, working the next 25 years designing gardens in B.C., Alberta, Ontario and England. She will talk about elements of Garden Design. At the meeting enjoy coffee, tea and treats and enter to win a great prize at the raffle, a one-year family membership at VanDusen Gardens and a Roy Forester book worth over $100 kindly donated by Paulette Orchard. Donations for raffles are always appreciated. Drop in $5. Annual membership $15.
