Harbour Highlights: Boat parade this Friday

This Friday, Dec. 14, the 54th Pender Harbour Boat Parade sets sail at 6 p.m. from the government dock at Millennium Park. The beautifully decorated boats will carry carollers and the Pipe Band broadcasting the favourite songs of this festive season.

PODS, Ruby Lake Lagoon Society Diver Bio Blitz will take place at Irvine’s Landing, Sunday, Dec. 16 with Ocean Quest Divers. Tents and tables will have live displays where you can identify local marine species. There will be hot drinks at this family friendly event – bring a mug. 

Saturday the Community Club Christmas Craft Fair opens at 10 a.m. at the Hall. Shop the very talented local vendors’ tables loaded with treasures and treats. Have a fun time at Liz’s DIY craft booth and buy up tickets to win fantastic raffle prizes. HUGS ukulele group will perform your favourite carols at 11:30 a.m. Proceeds go to maintaining the Hall. 

The Legion’s giant Christmas ham and turkey meat draw and pie auction, a very popular event, will also happen Saturday afternoon starting at 3:15 p.m. Pick up tickets for the New Year’s Eve party, featuring the sensational Apasionado jazz duo. 

The Pender Harbour Music Society proudly presents the return of Company B Jazz Band Sunday, Dec. 16, 2 p.m. at the School of Music. This fabulous vintage jazz ensemble’s music of the ‘40s and ‘50s will include the best of the season’s songs in their concert. 

The second tour of lights on the Polar Express departs Monday night, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. from the Hall touring through Madeira Park areas. Tickets available at EarthFair Store, Harbour Insurance and John Henry’s. Be sure to choose your favourite display in the contest. 

Wednesday, Dec. 19 the volunteers of the Garden Bay Fire Hall invite everyone to their annual open house, 6 to 8 p.m. Enjoy treats, tour the trucks, and Santa will be there, too!
