This Friday, Aug. 17 is the start of the 14th annual Chamber Music Festival – four concerts over three days featuring world class musicians at the School of Music. Friday’s concert is A Higher Revelation, Saturday afternoon is Shall We Dance? with an evening performance  of Two Views of Sunset. Sunday afternoon Make a Joyful Sound. The 36th Festival of Written Arts is on until Aug. 19. Treat yourself to a great summertime read and pick up any of the featured books at EarthFair Store in Madeira Park. There are fantastic local history books and nature inspired gifts, the perfect souvenirs to take home (604-883-9006). 

Visit the Harbour Gallery across from the School of Music open every day 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This hidden gem, run by local artists and housed in a former BC Forestry building, is a great place to take your summertime visitors. 

Thursday, Aug. 23 Seniors Initiative will take a bus trip to Persephone Brewing Co. Tour the facility and farm and learn how they make their delicious beer. Carry on to the Gibsons Public Market. Bus departs at 10:30 a.m. and returns approximately 4 to  4:30 p.m. Cost is $15.
