Halfmoon Bay Fire Department’s annual 10k run is set for Sept. 30.

Sign up for the Run ‘Til It Burns event and support your local volunteer fire department and high school running teams! This fundraiser will help pay for life-saving equipment and support healthy living, and help the Chatelech and Elphinstone running teams. Whether you are an experienced runner or just starting to get in shape, it is a great event for the whole family. Hosted by the HMB Volunteer Firefighters Association (halfmoonbayfire.ca) and PaceSetter Athletic Run Club (pacesetterathletic.club). The Halfmoon Bay Branch of the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary will be meeting Monday Oct. 8 at 9:45 a.m. at Coopers Green hall. Visitors and new members welcome. Check out their website at sunshinecoasthealthcareauxiliary.com for more details.

AppleFest/Halloween weekend is Oct. 27 and 28. Saturday is the Halloween costume dance party, with Poppa Greg and the Chillin’ Dylans plus special guests Simon Paradis and Daryle Todd. Doors at 7 p.m., music starts at 7:30 p.m. at Coopers Green Hall. Tickets are at HMB General Store, Welcome Woods Market and Pastimes in Sechelt.
