The Halfmoon Bay branch of the Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary is hosting another Fabulous Bridge Luncheon on April 25 at the Botanical Garden in West Sechelt. Along with bridge and a delicious lunch there will be items for auction and door prizes. All money raised goes to supporting healthcare on the Sunshine Coast. The cost of tickets is $120 per table of four; contact Shelley Grainger at 604-885-7338.

Halfmoon Bay Community Association reminds pickleball players that spring break continues until April 2. The school will be closed, so no pickleball until April 3, when regular sessions will continue Wednesdays and Mondays.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt is set for Sunday, April 21 at Coopers Green Park. Halfmoon Bay Community School welcomes families with children up to Grade 7. They are most grateful to local sponsors: Welcome Woods Market, Halfmoon Bay Volunteer Fire Department, Halfmoon Bay Community Association and Halfmoon Bay Community School parents and students. Plan to come down for hot dogs, coffee and a great Sunday family outing.

Halfmoon Bay Citizens Association will be organizing Broom Busting, the clean up of Scotch broom and other invasive plants. If you wish to volunteer, contact Mary Beth Knechtel, [email protected]

A few nice days and boating season approaches, the HMB Branch of the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue wants to promote distress call methods. To report a marine emergency, use channel 16 on marine VHF radio, or #727 (#SAR), or #16 by mobile phone, or 1-800-567-5111 toll free (Joint Rescue Coordination Centre) by phone. It is a good idea to copy this information and carry it with you. Be safe on the water.

To have your say at the bay, contact me before 5 p.m. Monday at [email protected] or 604-885-5034.
