This year the Halfmoon Bay Country Fair theme is being put out to the citizens of Halfmoon Bay. If there is a theme you think appropriate, send in your ideas before March 1 to teknight@telus.net and it will be voted on at the next Community Association board meeting.

Plans for the fair are starting, a committee is being formed, and the first meeting will be March 10 at Coopers Green Hall. Anyone wanting to join in the fun of setting up, please contact me at teknight@telus.net. The fair date is set for July 11 and 12.

Over the past few years the Herring Enhancement Project on the Sunshine Coast has been supported by SCREDO. This year Halfmoon Bay Community Association will participate along with Pender Ocean Discovery Station (PODS) the Lagoon Society, and four Rotary Clubs from Pender Harbour to Gibsons. The task is to put out curtains for herring eggs to settle on as the creosote on the wharf pilings can kill the eggs. The nets will need to be checked weekly. If you would like to participate in our area, contact Cindy for more information at cindy.kisser@telus.net.

CANCELLATION: There will be no pickleball on Wednesday, Feb. 26 due to a school function. Pickleball resumes as usual Mondays and Wednesdays 5:30 p.m., subject to closure due to weather conditions. Check with HMBCommunity.org for updates. Cost is $4 per session (first time is free) at Halfmoon Bay Elementary School gym. Balls and racquets provided.

To have your say at the Bay, contact me before 5 p.m. Monday at teknight@telus.net or 604-885-5034.
