Ya Yas still the team to beat

Ya Yas' goal count continues to rise as fast as the price of silver, as they got six against Source from Angela Muir, Eliza Johnson, Molly Joe and Kari Dixon in women's soccer league action.

Ya Yas' goal count continues to rise as fast as the price of silver, as they got six against Source from Angela Muir, Eliza Johnson, Molly Joe and Kari Dixon in women's soccer league action.

In an effort to foil the Ya Yas' undefeated season, the league has decided to call in the dreaded Sitas Pizza Bounty, the doughty sheriff who always gets his woman. Whoever beats Ya Yas will be awarded an extra large pizza at Sitas Spag and Suds. Brent Sheppard and his Banana Peppers lost a close 1-0 decision to Sitahs on a goal from Ginny Blattler, while it was Mayhem 4, Source 1, as Sammi Dixon hit two, with singles from Katy Rowland and Angie Horianopoulas.

In men's action, it was Chiefs 2 Wolves 2 in what has been the closest Band team match-up in 20 years. Chiefs' goals unsurprisingly came from Flyin' Ryan Paul and Scott Johnson, with Rick 'Raise the Titanic' Timothy and Junior Dixon striking net for the Wolves.

A CPU four-goal onslaught quarterbacked by midfielder Roman Horat saw goals from Ken Campbell and Eric Pinfold against Ridgepoint. While his team slumped, Eoin-of-the-war-cry Ross abandoned tactics and personal safety to score as he madly launched himself through the CPU backline like a crazed carnival clown shot out of a cannon. The next play saw Ross up field again heading the ball at the post. Ross's one man wrecking crew reminded the slumbering first place Bruins that they once were warriors and they filled in behind, scoring twice more with goals from John Small and cool-as-a-cucumber Steve Crawford placing a kick under the bar and over the hands of the keeper.

Unlike military campaigns, soccer games end with a final whistle, but the Bruins kept up their charge with three more goals in their match against Halfmoon Bay, from Ross, Small and Jason Wilson.
