Canadians will be represented by David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, joined by member of Parliament John Weston, West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country at the inauguration of Mexico's new President, Enrique Peña Nieto.

Weston will attend as a member of the Canada-Mexico parliamentary friendship group.

"Our parliamentary friendship group has worked hard on issues relevant to our riding and the whole country," said Weston. "These include boosting Mexican tourism to Canada and making sure that Canadians are treated fairly there, as 1.4 million Canadians typically vacation in Mexico in a year. The economic relationship is key as well. Mexico is our third largest trading partner and the target for substantial Canadian investment, in the mining and manufacturing sectors."

Weston departed Nov. 29 for Mexico, returning to the riding for public appearances Sunday, then flying Sunday night to be back for work in the House of Commons Monday.
