Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Nov. 20 to Nov. 27:
Overnight on Nov. 19, thieves broke into a business in the 1100 block of Highway 101 and stole a 50-inch LG Plasma screen television and a small amount of cash from the cash register. The thieves gained entry by throwing a rock through the glass front door. Police are reviewing surveillance footage from neighbouring businesses.Overnight on Nov. 19, a thief broke into a business in the 1000 block of Gibsons Way. The thief attempted to pry open a window, but then smashed a corner of the glass to gain entry. The thief then broke into an office and stole some cash. Police are reviewing surveillance footage.Police are warning the public to be aware that as the holiday season approaches, the number of scams circulating on-line, through the mail, and over the telephone is increasing. Residents on the Coast have reported receiving emails from Canada Post advising the recipient that there is a package for pick-up. Fortunately, the recipient did not respond or open any of the links in the email. Canada Post does not do business via email; please check their website for more information on this scam.

The thieves chopped up the logs before removing them from the property. Between Nov. 16 and 20, a vandal damaged a shed in the 5500 block of Inlet Road in Sechelt by pulling two boards off the door. However, no entry to the shed was gained and nothing was stolen.On Nov. 21, a witness reported a possible impaired female leaving a business in the 900 block of Venture Way in Gibsons. The witness provided the licence plate, vehicle, suspect description and direction of travel.
Police located the suspect vehicle parked nearby, but the female was not inside. Instead, police located a male in the driver's seat who also appeared impaired.
The male was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded. The male was also issued a violation ticket for failing to produce a valid driver's licence. The female, who had returned to the vehicle, and the male were both transported home.On Nov. 23, police observed a vehicle leave a business in the 900 block of Gibsons Way and conducted a routine traffic stop a short distance away. Police noted the odour of alcohol from the driver, who admitted to having consumed alcohol a short time earlier. The driver was given a roadside alcohol-screening test, which resulted in a 'warn' reading. The driver was issued a three-day immediate roadside prohibition.
