Voter apathy shocking

It is not the decision of the referendum that bothers me, it is the apathy of the citizens of Sechelt that does.

I can't believe that only 22.5 per cent of eligible voters, regarding an important decision, came out to vote. Shame on all of you comprising the other 77 per cent.

To retain democracy we must not lose our vote on important political and monetary issues. Only apathy will allow that to happen. Time will be decisive regarding the decision of 11.4 per cent of the citizens of Sechelt who voted in favor of being in debt for the next 10 years. Hopefully, it will not be a pathetic minority decision.

Ed Beketa, Sechelt
