OTTAWA - The foreign affairs minister from the Netherlands is in Ottawa, where he'll speak at the Rideau Club about relations between Canada and the European Union in light of recent security challenges.

Frans Timmermans will later meet with Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird to discuss the current situation in Ukraine and ongoing Russian aggression, among other issues.

The two men will lay a wreath at the National War Museum before holding a joint news conference.

Here are some other events happening today in and around the national capital:

— Ontario Progressive Conservative Party Leader Tim Hudak speaks at the Economic Club of Canada about his party's "Million Jobs Plan";

— The Rural Economic Summit of Ontario wraps up with discussions about rural economic development, challenges in the agri-food industry and international business development;

— And the Supreme Court of Canada renders a decision in the appeal of a fine issued by the City of Quebec over the use of a parking lot.
