Three parties running full slate of candidates in New Brunswick election

FREDERICTON - A total of 220 people have put their names forward to vie for a seat in the New Brunswick election.

The Liberals, Progressive Conservatives and New Democrats are running candidates in all 49 ridings while the Green party has 46 candidates and 18 people are running for the People's Alliance of New Brunswick.

There are also nine Independent candidates.

The deadline for people to submit their names for contention was Tuesday.

Elections New Brunswick says 149 men and 71 women are running.

The number of women candidates is unchanged from the last election in September 2010.

At that time there 55 ridings, whereas there are 49 seats available in this election.

Candidates have until Sept. 20 to withdraw their names.
