When days grow short and fall rains begin, Sunshine Coasters gather to sing.

There are 12 public choirs meeting weekly from Pender Harbour to Gibsons.

Sue Milne, director, lower Sunshine Coast, B.C. Choral Federation, gave us some insight into all the choral groups on the Coast.

The most musically ambitious choirs are the A Capella Strait, which requires an audition, the Pender Harbour Choir, which tackles extensive and challenging repertoire each season, and the Coast Phoenix singers.

The most relaxed are the four Music Maker groups: gospel, adult, children and family choirs. All are constantly looking for new members, and anyone interested is encouraged to come out. There is something for every singer of every age and ability. Most perform concerts, and some do community outreach singing for people in hospice, hospital or care homes.
