Re: Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) budget (Coast Reporter, March 21).
When, if ever, will the taxpayers elect a government on the Coast whose members understand that the ability to spend tax money is not a prime requirement for the job and therefore there is no need to continually try to show there is?
The SCRD is now preparing to raise taxes for homeowners by seven per cent. Gibsons Coun. Gerry Tretick is quoted in Coast Reporter as saying, "The budget is what it is because it has to be."
Wow! This is something most taxpayers didn't know, I'm sure.
