U11 United drops road game

Rep soccer

Sunshine Coast United played well in a 4-1 loss to Juventus FC last weekend in East Vancouver.

Despite the score, the U11 boys were strong on defence and in net. Sierra Ryden was stellar at the forward position, and Kai Maiwa Brodie was great in his first game with the team.

The Scorpions stinging style slayed the day last Saturday in a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Eagles.

Early the first half, Everett August chipped a ball inside the 18 and Justin Fodchuk delivered an unstoppable header to open the scoring.

The Eagle’s response was well matched by Everett, Evan Griffin, Wyatt Baldwin and Ben Luporini, who all controlled the ball nicely to feed it to Xavier Benjamin, Finn Rogers and Bryce Pierre.

Scorpions’ defencemen Philip Fogarty and Liam Rankin turned up the heat after Vancouver tied the game in the second half. Keeper Keeran Peel kept his poise throughout it all. Attacks by forwards Jordan Kammerle and Duncan Armstrong were thwarted until Jordan hammered one home to secure the win.

Splendid form and fine sportsmanship prevailed on both teams.

Next game is an away against the Vancouver Predators.
