Triple Bs repeat at Mitts’ women’s tourney

Slo-pitch

The Triple Bs beat All Mitts to repeat as champions at the second annual Mitts’ women’s slo-pitch tournament last Saturday, July 5, at Connor Park in Halfmoon Bay.

Defence on both sides was unstoppable until Kari Krystalovich hit a three-run home run which put the game away for the Triple Bs.

Seven teams started the day playing two round robin games to get themselves seeded for the playoffs.

These Pitches Be Crazy placed seventh after a short final game against the Thunder Bunnies where pitchers Holly Davies, Jessie August and Michelle Van Luven displayed some great pitching.

Thunder Bunnies then played the Fire-ballerz in a shortened fifth/sixth place game.

The Fireballerz played some great defence including excellent fielding by Christine Hanson and Christine Campbell and came out on top.

Baseball Broads had to settle for fourth place despite Summer Hay’s tricky pitching as the Triple Bs defeated the Broads to earn a place in the final.

Acockolips, with solid defence behind pitcher Thea Small, finished third, unable to put a stop to the All Mitts.

Tournament organizer Dani Thompson could not be more impressed with the tournament play.

“It’s amazing watching these ladies play. I see incredible throws, great batting and diving catches. Plus everyone leaves with a huge smile on their face, win or lose. Special thanks to everyone who helped make this possible,” she said.
