Take part in one of the most exiting and enjoyable motor sports on the planet. The motocross track is located on the power lines just to the west of the reservoir at the top of Selma Park Road. Thanks to the Sechelt Indian Band and the land-use agreement entered into in 2001, the track is thriving. The philosophy behind the track is to provide a facility for young and old to have a safe place to ride and resist the temptation of dangerous gravel pits, side streets and areas where these types of motorcycles are deemed a nuisance. The track is well known and has a reputation for its great layout, natural terrain and excellent soil quality.

The Lower Mainland motocross community considers the track the ultimate place to ride, train and practice in the fall, winter and spring season. The track is responsible for bringing at least 500 people a year to the Sunshine Coast and once here, they remark on how beautiful it is and how nice the weather is compared to the Lower Mainland.

The track has been designed so motorcycles and quads can use the same track and there is also a smaller track for young riders separate from the larger track. It would be great to see more local riders enter the sport considering the facility and its proximity. The motocross track is run solely by volunteers and maintaining the facility can be quite a chore, but the club has had assistance from Doug Spani of Spani Developments and Universal Land Services who have donated as well as other club members who volunteer their time maintaining the facility.

My son Riley and I race the Lower Mainland series in the late spring and summer. I have personally been riding here for the last 20 years in this general location and really hope the track will be here for another 20 years. We will be offering riding and racing lessons to locals, but you must have your own bike and gear. We will go over all aspects of the sport including maintenance of the motorcycles.

Memberships are $150 per year. Drop-in fees are $20. The gate is generally locked, but there is access at the side. On weekends the gate is open.
