The skater of the month for June is Cooper Jones.
Cooper is nine years old and attends Grade 3 at Ecole du Pacifique. Cooper is very committed and shows great potential.
He has had wonderful progress this year, passing several Skate Canada tests — preliminary skills, some junior bronze dances and part one of his preliminary free skate.
He participated in the BC Coast Regional Championships where he received a gold assessment. He skated for his first year as a STARskater, participated in all off-ice dryland training and pre-competition simulation, performed in the year-end performance, and skated beyond the arena closures here, travelling to the Arbutus Club in Vancouver.
Cooper also takes ballet at Coast Academy of Dance. His favourite things about skating are: dancing on the ice and going fast. When he is not skating, he likes to draw, colour, bounce on the trampoline, and throw Frisbee with his sister Isabella.
He is a great role model for other skaters within the club.
