September Slam next Saturday

Roller Derby

September is here and although summer may be is coming to a close, you can still enjoy it with one last roller derby game.

Yes the last game of the season will be held in Sechelt next Saturday, Sept. 13, as The Sunshine Coast Roller Girls Red Tide Warning square off against rival The Doomsday Bunnies from Vancouver’s The Mainland Misfits. These teams last met in Gibsons in 2013 with a competitive game being played by both sides. Red Tide Warning will be playing hard for a win.

Doors open at 5 p.m. at the Sunshine Coast Arena, with the match starting at 6 p.m.

This event is fun for the whole family and a great way to support local community sports leagues. Tickets will be available at the door.

The end of the derby season also means the start of the recruitment season for next year. There are great opportunities for new players, new referees and volunteers and the league will offer fun drop-in try-out skate sessions for the public through September and early October.
