Roller derby action returns to the Sunshine Coast next Saturday, July 27, at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre.

The Sunshine Coast Roller Girls are bookending their 2013 season with two home games, one in Gibsons and one in Sechelt on Sept. 7.

The team has been playing all over B.C. and the 2012 season saw the league improve in the rankings by more than 30 points.

Sunshine Coasters can watch live action roller derby, the fastest growing sport in the world, right here in Gibsons while supporting the Sunshine Coast Roller Girls in their first home game of the season as the Roller Girls A team Red Tide Warning takes on the Mainland Misfits Doomsday Bunnies from Vancouver.

Doors open at 5 with first whistle at 6 p.m.

The bout is a family-friendly, alcohol-free event. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and children ages six to 12 and will be available at the door. Children under five are free when accompanied by an adult. There will be a 50/50 draw, new merchandise for sale and, in honour of Sea Cavalcade weekend, a pirate theme, so costumes are encouraged.
