The Sunshine Coast Lacrosse Association would like you to consider playing "the fastest game on two feet."
The association has an exciting season ahead. Online registration is up and running.
"We are looking for referees and coaches, and we are always looking for volunteers," said newly elected president Pam Service, adding anyone wishing to help out can contact one of the board members.
Besides Service, the new board consists of: Karen Nielsen, vice-president, Kevin Maguire, secretary, Jacquie Chess, treasurer, Terry Ratcliff, registrar, and Jason Pratt, past president and coaching coordinator.
The association is looking for referees, coaches and five other members for its board (referee/scheduler, equipment manager, head fundraiser, head scheduler and website coordinator.
New this year, each team will have a manager, a volunteer/fundraising coordinator and a home game coordinator for 30-second clock, score sheet, time clock and door people. Practices will be held at both the Sunshine Coast Arena in Sechelt and the Gibsons and Area Community Centre with most home league games in Gibsons. There is an early bird discount if you register by March 14.
This season the Rapids are also teaming up with the Vancouver Stealth of the National Lacrosse League.
On March 21, the association will be front and centre at the Stealth's home game in Langley. Players of all ages can attend a pre-game clinic and go to the game after for $40, extra tickets $27.
Peewee, bantam and midget players also all have an opportunity to try out for Team BC and a possible trip to this year's BC Summer Games in Nanaimo. See details at http://bcla.centraldesktop.com/bcla/.
