The first full week of fastball is in the books for the Sunshine Coast Men's Fastball League.
On opening night June 18, Lon's Gun Show beat RJS 9-6, while Lighthouse/IGA edged the Pirates 8-7.
Ken Fujimori pitched three innings and Mike Sopow pitched four in the win for the Gun Show. Sopow added a home run and Jesse Agnew hit a triple and stole home.
For RJS, Dave Moran pitched three innings and Steve Partridge pitched four. Randy Tulk hit a bases loaded double, driving in three.
The Lighthouse/Pirates game was a back-and-forth contest with many good defensive plays. Darren Kohuch pitched all seven innings for Lighthouse and Dan Hemstalk had the winning RBI.
On Wednesday, June 22, the Pirates beat the Gun Show 5-1 behind the strong pitching of Jim (Wheepy) Peers. Sowpow pitched seven innings for the Gun Show.
The other game saw Custom Carpet edge RJS 7-4.
Jeremy Rowland pitched four innings for Custom Carpet and Doug Saunders pitched three with a couple of key strikeouts. The highlight of the game was Dave Moran hitting a bomb over the fence, but Justin Samson made an amazing catch, leaning over the fence to rob Moran of the home run.
The final games of the week on Friday, June 22 were rained out.
Week two action started on Monday night with the Gun Show beating the Relics 6-3.
Sopow hit a home run for Gun Show while Mike Husband got the win, pitching four strong innings with three strike outs.
Al Holt came out of retirement to pitch all seven innings for the Relics.
In the other game, the Pirates mercied Custom Carpet 14-0 with Cale Fraser pacing the attack with a three-run homer.

Dillon, Short battle at Canada Cup Races
The Sunshine Coast's Louis Dillon has put forward two back-to-back solid races for Team B.C. at Canada Cup races in Quebec and Ontario.
Dillon had a good start and finished lap one in the top 10 on his way to a 12th place finish on May 29.
In the downhill race, Halfmoon Bay's Katherine Short finished in third place in the first Canada Cup downhill race of the season.
On June 13, Team B.C. left Quebec and headed to Ontario for the final round of the Canada Cup cross-country series.
Dillon, racing in the junior event, got caught up in an early race crash and was forced to chase the pack. After working his way back to mid-pack, his bike chain got caught up in some mud and a major mechanical failure put him even further back. But after a fix in the tech zone, he went back on course to finish a gutsy race.
