Both competitors came out victorious at the Ali' I Warriors Fight Night 3, which was sanctioned by the United Southeast Asian Cultural Associations.

Tonya Stephan of Pender Harbour competed against a much larger and stronger opponent in a 130-pound contest, but was able to maintain pressure utilizing her kickboxing skills to win all three rounds against a very powerful boxer.

Her opponent, Wanda Binette of United Studios Self Defence in Seattle, showed determination and heart throughout the entire fight; however, Stephan was able to walk away with the victory. The win was of particular importance to Stephan as her family was in the audience supporting her.

Rob Michael of Roberts Creek competed in a 140-pound fight against Daemont Johnson of Victory Athletics in Olympia who showed his past boxing experience from the U.S. Army, by dropping Michael to the canvas early in the first round. Michael was able to make a quick adjustment to his technique with the advice from his coach, and in the second round, used kicks and knees to keep Johnson from advancing forward and using his punches.

Michael came out strong in the third round with non-stop attacks, defeating Johnson by knock-out with a knee to the body.

Both competitors were recognized for their back-and-forth battle and received the fight of the night award.

The entire fight card showed good talent and quality competitors from respected schools in the Pacific Northwest. Ostovic's Gym was the only school represented from B.C.
