The Bantam Rapids team defeated the Abbotsford Warriors 5-2 last weekend to remain undefeated at 7-0.

The Sunshine Coast Midget Rapids lacrosse team returned home from a tie game in Pitt Meadows last Saturday (goals scored by Justin Macey and Keeran Peel) to thrill a home crowd on Sunday with a resounding 13-6 win over the Delta Islanders.

Wesley Konapasek led the scoring with his first goal in lacrosse. Caymen Froude was also on the board for his first time with two goals. Jacob Huson added four, Justin earned a hat trick, Gabriel Chamberlain scored two goals, and Ryan Fraser rounded out the baker’s dozen.

Goran Trokicic was unflappable in the net, even staving off a tense five-on-three penalty kill. Liam Rankin and Matt Risebrough couldn’t get past the Delta goalie, but were tough on offence. Cameron Wray, Brendann Query, Kalen Alain and Carson Wayment battled valiantly in the defensive end.

The decisive win reaffirmed coach Bethia Macey’s decision to move the team up a tier this year. She and assistant coach Patrick Query are hoping to lead the team to the provincials later in July.
