Sixteen-year-old Caitlin Jarvis is the Skater of the Month of September for the Sunshine Coast Skate Club.

Caitlin, who is about to start Grade 11 at Elphinstone Secondary School, has been a great ambassador with the club.

She represented the club at BC Winter Games, carried the Olympic Torch, was regional StarSkater of the year, provincial StarSkater of the year, and Skate Canada National StarSkater of the year. She had passed her gold level Skate Canada tests in skills, freeskate and Interpretive along with her novice competitive test all by age of 12. She is now completing her gold dances.

She tried out and was accepted for the provincial Synchro Team. She was also part of the Regional Development Team and B.C. Select team.

Caitlin recently completed her CanSkate coach-in-training course in Vancouver, which is one of the steps toward becoming a professional coach for CanSkate.

She has volunteered for the local club, the region and section in numerous ways over the years and most recently for five days at the Super Series Summerskate Competition in Vancouver.

“I love just about everything in skating,” she said. “It has taught me goal setting, good time management skills and many life lessons that I will always have. Reaching the goals I set for myself has always made me very proud. In competition, I love performing my interpretive programs.

“I am also very active in Sea Cadets, which I love. I am an active volunteer with Skate Canada/BC Section as a trial judge, a data specialist in training and a volunteer on the competition committee.”
