The Sunshine Coast Skating Club invites skaters of all ages and abilities to take part in the Silly Olympics this Saturday, Nov. 29 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre.

The event is one of 1,800 activities taking place across Canada as part of RBC Sports Day’s national celebration of sport.

The Silly Olympics will include body curling, beanbag toss, pin the tail on the donkey and even a putting green with hockey sticks.

“Fostering opportunities for sport at both local and national levels allows us to build a better and stronger society, while also becoming more physically active, leading to healthier, more active lifestyles,” added Elio Antunes, president and CEO of ParticipACTION, the national voice of physical activity and sport participation in Canada

RBC Sports Day in Canada will cap off a week of more than 1,800 local events and activities across the country and concludes with a special broadcast on CBC TV this Saturday as well.
