Eleven young Sunshine Coast athletes have been selected to participate in the upcoming BC Summer Games, a biannual event that showcases high performance athletes in a variety of sports.
Georgie Aleong, Liam Rankin and Lily Rigg will be competing in track and field. Tim Walters is on the baseball team while Jordan Allen and Teagan Howden are members of the girls’ softball team. Bradley Huddlestone and Taylor Whittal will be playing on the boys’ and girls’ volleyball teams, respectively, and Gabriel Chamberlain, Jacob Huson and Justin Macey are competing on the box lacrosse team.
The Games will be held in Nanaimo July 17 to 20, and the local youth have been chosen for Zone 5 teams, comprised of youngsters from the Vancouver - Squamish corridor.
