Club wraps spring season

Bringing in a high level judge and a dance partner from Vancouver, the club saw a 100 per cent pass rate in the assortment of tests taken in May. In conjunction with the Test Day in February the following tests were passed for the season:

Beres Clements: Dutch Waltz, Canasta Tango, preliminary skating skills, junior bronze skating skills, preliminary free skate parts one and two and junior bronze free skate parts one and two; Brenda Harkin: junior bronze skills; Brooke Kwasney: senior bronze skating skills, junior bronze free skate parts one and two; Caitlin Jarvis: European Waltz, Keats' Foxtrot, Rocker Foxtrot, senior silver skating skills, gold skating skills, second gold interpretive, gold free skate parts one and two, novice free skate; Elleni Antonio: Dutch Waltz, preliminary skating skills; Elisabeth Lyle: Dutch Waltz, Canasta Tango, preliminary skating skills; Jaymie Capron: Willow Waltz, Fourteen-step, senior bronze skating skills, bronze interpretive; Madison Welch: Canasta Tango, Baby Blues, Swing Dance, Fiesta Tango, preliminary skating skills, junior bronze skills, preliminary free skate parts one and two, junior bronze free skate part one and Maya Moudahi: Dutch Waltz, Canasta Tango, Baby Blues, Swing Dance, preliminary skating skills.

At the recent Victoria Day competition held at the South Surrey Leisure Center, Beres placed third in pre-preliminary men while Caitlin participated in the pre-novice ladies category as well as gold interpretive where she placed first.

Earlier competitions saw numerous successes in the club with gold assessments for performance evaluations earned by Maya, silver by Beres, Maya, Elisabeth and Madison and bronze by Beres and Maya as well as placements by Jaymie and Caitlin that earned them spots in the Pacific StarSkate Championships.

Jaymie placed first in pre-intro interpretive at the Regional Competition, Beres placed fifth in pre-preliminary, while Madison competed in ladies' pre-prelim nine and under at the WinterSkate Qualifying competition. Caitlin placed third in gold interpretive at the 2010/11 Regional Championships and sixth at VISI in Parksville.

The club is now looking to summer and making plans for sending competitive skaters out of town to continue their training. The cub will continue next year with a full fall, winter, and spring session while working on the possibility of a summer session to enable skaters to train at home.
