It's April and the ice is melting, and that doesn't just mean the daffodils are out - it also means it roller derby season again.
The Sunshine Coast Roller Girls Red Tide Warning starts its derby season with an exciting and prestigious bout at the World Ski and Snowboard Festival in Whistler on April 20.
Super Brawl Sunday is sure to be a hard-hitting game with some fantastic sea-to-sky rivalry thrown in for extra excitement.
Girls Red Tide Warning has a full season already planned with home games in Sechelt on July 19and Sept. 16. Advance tickets will go on sale soon.
Away games will be played in Vancouver, Squamish and Whistler, with invitational scrimmages and tournaments in between.
Girls Red Tide Warning has been training hard during their off-season and are looking forward to getting back into action.
They are also hosting their first recruitment drive of the year throughout April. If you or someone you know is interested in playing roller derby - you can drop in to the leagues "fresh meat" practice and talk to a roller girl about this fantastic sport at the Gibsons arena from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays April 15, 22and 29.
Players, referees and volunteers are all needed, so there is a job for everyone.
