All-Star Wrestling draws enthusiastic crowd

Sechelt

Real or scripted, All-Star Wrestling proved to be a big draw in Sechelt Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Sechelt Indian Band Community Hall. With five bouts scheduled, the 150-member crowd was enthusiastic and truly enjoyed themselves. The first match featured Kyle Sebastian in a bruising match against B.C.’s Adam Ryder, which ended with Sebastian pinning Adam for the win.

It was a night for title matches, with Surrey’s Bambi Hall battling to retain her title against the hated girl from Brantford, Kaitlin Diemond. A bit of cheating by Breaker #2 kept Diemond from taking the championship title, but former WWF/WWE referee Kevin Jefferies announced punishment would also include a mixed tag team match between the two women, with Diemond fighting alongside Breaker #2 and Hall with Adam Ryder. Hall and Ryder took their revenge, much to the crowd’s pleasure.

Gangrel was here to defend his All-Star Wrestling Trans-Canada heavyweight title against TKO Cody Smith, in a two out of three fall, one-hour match. Although Gangrel was on the ropes after losing the first fall, he managed to pin TKO twice to retain his title. Gangrel is a scary favourite among the crowd and many of the children there posed with him or got his autograph.

Although not a title match, many of the crowd were looking forward eagerly to a last visit from midget superstar Short Sleeve Sampson. Sampson was facing Cougar Meat Collin Cutler, a younger wrestler with a weight advantage. But in true wrestling style, the highly-skilled Sampson won the bout. He plans to start a new career in TV and movies now that he’s had 15 years experience in pro wrestling.

The large turnout has encouraged promoters to bring more events to the Coast. Watch for more announcements.
