Wrestlers undefeated at recent meet

Elphinstone Secondary School

Elphinstone wrestlers went undefeated at the Baron’s Bash last Tuesday, Jan. 13 on the North Shore.

A small team of three travelled to Carson Graham for the meet.

Percy Stipec finished all his matches in under 30 seconds. He challenged the provincial champ from two weight classes above him in an exhibition match and was seconds away from a win as he rolled him to a pin in a painful cradle before time ran out.

Celeste Evans found her winning touch after winning her first match ever.

Scout Stipec easily won her matches against her opponents. Her last opponent was 12 kg heavier, but Scout still spun her on her head for the win. She had to wrestle a heavier male from Sentinel in an exhibition match for a bit of competition.

“The North Shore is learning to fear the yellow and black on the mat,” said coach Eric Sullivan.

Next up for Elphi is the Wildcat meet before the team focuses on qualifying for the North Shore zones in the hopes of earning a spot at the provincial championships.
