Trout Lake frozen

Skating
trout lake

Trout Lake in Halfmoon Bay froze enough for people to skate on over the Jan. 7-8 weekend and an impromptu hockey game was started with players from all age groups and skill levels. Many on the ice said they’d never seen Trout Lake frozen like this before.

Trout Lake is under provincial jurisdiction and the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) does not have authority to regulate skating on the lake; however, the SCRD is circulating a flyer on ice safety from the Life Saving Society. The flyer is available on the SCRD website (www.scrd.ca), or see www.lifesaving.bc.ca for more information.
