Swimmers shine in regional championships

The Chinook Swim Club had three swimmers – Eloise Allen, Rory Scott and Ava Hynd – attend Lower Mainland Regional Championships in Richmond on Feb. 17 and 18 where 22 swim clubs came to compete with a total of 449 athletes. All three Chinook swimmers were able to achieve best times and one or more Tier 1 times. Tier 1 times are based on the top 50 swimmers in B.C.

Eloise Allen received second place in 50 back stroke with a time of 33.23, a best time of 1:07.89 in 100 free, a Tier 1 time and second place in her 100 breast stroke with a time of 1:25.19.

Rory Scott received a Tier 1 time in his 200 individual medley of 3:01.09 where he came in second for 12-year-old boys. Rory also achieved personal best times in 100 back stroke with a time of 1:26.73, 100 free 1:16.02, 100 breast stroke 1:38.17, and 50 free 35.26.

Ava Hynd received Tier 1 times in the following events: 200 IM 3:08.64 (first place), 50 free 33.77 (second place), 100 back 1:24.31 (second place), and 200 free 2:45.68 (first place). She received a personal best in 100 free at 1:15.92 (second place).

These three swimmers are extremely dedicated to the sport of swimming and are training five or six times a week. Their times reflect a lot of hard work and dedication. Congratulations from the Chinook Swim Club on your success!
