Jarvis receives SCRD tribute

Sunshine Coast Skate Club

The Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) and the Sunshine Coast Skating Club paid a lovely tribute to long-time club member Caitlin Jarvis recently with a framed memorial containing highlights from her skating career, including a few of her medals, achievements and one of her competitive skating dresses.

Caitlin has had many successes throughout the years as a competitive skater including representing the Sunshine Coast at the BC Winter Games, being selected as part of the Regional Development Team, carrying the Olympic Torch when it came through the Coast, triple gold medalist status, as well as the regional, provincial and national StarSkate Athlete of the Year in 2012.

This year Caitlin added another award to her impressive array by winning the regional program assistant award presented at the BC Coast Regional annual general meeting in April.

The Skate Club and the SCRD mounted this beautiful tribute at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre, and it is now on permanent display.

Caitlin is moving this year from competitions into the coaching field and has recently completed her CanSkate training course, putting her well on the way to becoming a fully-trained CanSkate coach.
