The Gibsons Lions Club is hosting the Texas Scramble, a charity fundraiser, on July 16 at the Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club in Roberts Creek.
Bring a friend, have a ton of fun, and help out those in your own community.
Last year funds were given to the Breakfast Program of School District No. 46, the Sunshine Coast Special Olympics, the Diabetic Camp Kakhamela, and the Children’s Make a Wish Foundation.
Two disabled children were also able to attend Camp Squamish last year – $2,500 per child. The Lions always support the Girl Guides, Scouting Canada, Sea Cadets and more. Often they are called upon to donate mobility equipment for the elderly and they even helped one young lady go to Australia in order to compete in the Quarter Horse Competition.
Last fall they were able to supply 10 hampers at Thanksgiving time for very needy families within the community. One hundred per cent of all donations go through directly as they are completely volunteer and have no overhead expenses.
