Gibsons cyclist Lucy Schick helped Team BC take home a bronze medal from the 2017 Canada Summer Games on Aug. 1.

She competed in the women’s relay race and was instrumental in getting her team to the podium.

Schick joined two other Team BC riders in the mountain bike relay event held at Bison Butte Mountain Bike Park.

The trio started out in fourth place – however, when Schick took to the course she rode fast and hard to make up time.

“Lucy Schick then reeled in the third-place rider on lap two and created a lead over the fourth place athlete,” a press release from Team BC said.

The final Team BC rider kept that lead and in the end the women were able to advance to the podium for a bronze medal.

Schick also finished 11th in the individual race on Sunday and was scheduled to race the sprint event on Thursday.
