All Star wrestling returns Jan. 30

Wrestling

After its successful debut last September, All Star Wrestling (ASW) returns to Sechelt Friday Jan. 30 with a jam-packed action card.

The main event features former WWE superstar Jinder Mahal vs Azeem the Dream.

Azeem the Dream has been taking any challenge he can as he tries to become ASW champion. Mahal was a fixture for years on WWE Smackdown and is one of the few men from Western Canada who has made it all the way to the “show.”

Azeem is one of the most devious and scheming wrestlers in ASW. He usually runs in a pack with his cohorts Ryseck and Obsession, but will be on his own in Sechelt.

In women’s action, Bambi Hall squares off with Nicole Matthews in what promises to be a battle of two of the best female wrestlers in the province.

Matthews has travelled the world becoming champion everywhere she fights. She just captured the coveted Shimmer Ladies wrestling title in Berwynn, Ill.

Hall was the runner up as the Pro Wrestling Illustrated rookie of the year and former ASW women’s champion.

The ASW Cruiserweight title is on the line in a two out of three falls match when champion Matt XStatic faces former champion The Great Kasaki.

The Great Kasaki brings his comedic high-flying arsenal to face current and defending champion XStatic who recently defeated Kasaki and Nick Price in three-way tables, ladders and chairs match to capture the gold in November. This will be action packed from bell-to-bell.

In a match for respect, newcomer Flexx Payne meets veteran Disco Fury.

Flexx has a huge size and strength advantage on Disco and has been getting stronger and faster learning the skills. What Disco lacks in size he makes up in experience. Disco has been wrestling for many years and is a former junior champion and heavyweight champion.

General admission tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for kids available in advance at the Sechelt Visitors Centre, at www.allstarwrestlingcanada.ca or at the door. Front row tickets are $20.

Doors open at 7 with bell time at 8 p.m. on Jan. 30 at the Sechelt Indian Band Hall.
