Ride the bus to see the issues

Our Sunshine Coast Regional District directors should have to take transit to the next meeting at which they discuss plans for our buses. Then they would know that the hardest part of taking a bus is the waiting, usually out in the cold and the rain and often in the dark.

That's why bus riders want to take one bus to where they're going. But the SCRD proposes we have one express route and everyone else, including Lower Gibsons, Langdale and Roberts Creek, ride a feeder route to get there, thus more than doubling the waiting time.

The express route will run along the highway, but how many of us live there? Also, the increase in express route buses means a decrease in feeder route buses so all we'll have is a lot more buses we can't get to.

The next suggestion is park and ride so we can drive to the express buses, but if we could drive, why not drive the whole way to our destination?

I would have more faith in these plans if I thought the people proposing or making the decisions actually rode public transit.
