West Sechelt never looked better

Compliments are due to the current Sechelt mayor and council.

Local governments frequently operate on the principle of responding to “those who turn up” at their meetings and complain the loudest. This mayor and council have prioritized work on actual need — in this case work long overdue in the older sections of West Sechelt.

Previous councils told us that we would never be connected to the sewer system, but now we are. Residents like myself no longer have to fear the prohibitive cost of replacing old septic fields at current standards. The mayor council, staff and contractors handled the whole project with professionalism, consideration and responsiveness. To all of you, a big vote of thanks.

Similarly, new crosswalks, road, sidewalk and lighting improvements around West Sechelt Elementary and Nickerson Road have made life safer and more pleasant. Pavement so broken that snow removal was difficult has been replaced. A contribution to the PAC for the new West Sechelt Elementary accessible playground helped bring that important project to completion. After years of being ignored by previous councils, we finally have a beautiful new sign on the highway.

As a West Sechelt resident and taxpayer for 27 years, I have not seen any previous local government get so many things done in our neighbourhood.
