The Gibsons and District Chamber of Commerce would like to welcome the newly elected Gibsons town council. We look forward to continuing to work with the town as partners in economic development.
The Gibsons and District Chamber of Commerce believes that active civic participation and good governance are prerequisites for economic development. The amazing voter turnout of 62 per cent tells us that our citizens are informed, engaged and active. Clearly we all care about our town. Good governance requires that the town’s decision making process be as transparent as possible and involve a dialog with all residents. It is not enough for good governance to happen, it must be seen to be happening.
We believe a safe, healthy and happy community is another prerequisite for economic development. It is our family members and friends who start and operate small businesses here. As long as Gibsons is a place where people are happy to raise their families, we will continue to thrive.
Safe and healthy communities require robust and reliable civic infrastructure. Sound stewardship of all public resources, be they environmental or financial, must be at the forefront of every decision.
We thank all candidates in this election for putting their names forward for public service.
